Dr. Serena Ajani

Meet Dr. Serena Ajani, the dedicated optometrist behind Cornell Optometry. Dr. Ajani opened her full-service family clinic in December 2012 to bring exceptional eye care to the Markham community she has called home for 18 years.

Her journey began at the University of Toronto (B.Sc. in Biology), followed by the Southern College of Optometry, where her academic excellence earned her a scholarship every single year. Through rigorous clinical rotations, she specialized in the detection and treatment of serious eye conditions, including diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and macular degeneration.

Dr. Ajani holds advanced therapeutic certifications in both Canada and the U.S. and remains connected to her industry through the Canadian and Ontario Associations of Optometrists. When she isn’t helping patients protect their vision, she loves travelling, reading and spending time with her two daughters.

Dr. Roshani Gnanaseelan

From answering your calls and emails to ordering contact lenses and helping you pick the perfect frames for your favorite outfit, she does it all. When she gets a quick break, you’ll find her catching up with Dr. Ajani and Erika over a hot cup of tea, diving into intense chats about life and the latest Netflix releases.

Aryanna

Meet Aryanna, who has been with us for a year now! Yes, your eyes aren’t deceiving you—she is indeed Dr. Ajani’s older daughter. Currently a Grade 11 student, she balances school with helping us out on Wednesday afternoons and during her summer breaks. Aryanna stays busy pre-testing patients, making reminder calls, and lending a hand wherever needed. When she’s off the clock, you’ll most likely catch her shopping at the mall or fueling up with a Starbucks run!

Erika

Say hello to Erika, who has been keeping our office running smoothly for the last 2 and a half years!
